You beat me too it Kevin.  After talking with Jesse, I think there is pretty good interest in having another cash event this year.  As long as its on a weekend that works for all the guys who are going to ThunderBall.

We now have an awesome 425+ yrd grid.  And hitting cars on the road isn't really an issue anymore.

I'm in for sure.   I would vote for having 3 seperate events @ $200 per player, per event.

I'm in for 3 events for $200 each as long as you can guarantee no headwind Tongue and Shawn "easy $$" Robinson somehow gets an injury before the finals.

I agree that we have a nice long grid and I know of at least 100 good Albertan long drivers who know the grid as well.  Let's get this thing going and we all know Jesse is good for the $$ he put on an event last year and everyone got paid before leaving.  Either weekend should be good for me.  Let's do this.

Hey Hutch,
Looks like I will be in the area after the big storm that came Monday in Calgary. I am pretty sure I will be up there and I will definitely come to a cash event if one is available. I am in...

Same with me, I'm up for whenever but let's do what we need to do

to get a good turnout.  We had such a great turnout of good new

hitters at the districts that there is no reason we shouldn't be able to

put together a sizeable field of quality hitters.  Not sure if any of

those new hitters know about incepta, maybe

we can email them about it.

Not sure if this helps but for any of the newer hitters that were there

for the regional competition, don't let a bad round get in your way of

continuing to compete.  I was out in 2 rounds and a few other hitters

that we all know didn't advance to the finals either.  Long drive is a

funny sport because all it takes is one good hit every set and we saw

that at the regionals when a slew of new guys went into the deeper

rounds.  You don't have to be able to hit the longest ball of the day,

you just need to hit ok and have balls land in bounds (wish I would

have remembered that at regionals).  Can you

win an event if you are not the longest hitter, HELL YA!!  Look at the

yardages in the regionals, everyone there hit a  ball in the

330's at least, the longest ball was 347 by Jesse Peterson, top 10 in

the world, I mean if you can hang with that guy you can beat

anyone.

Anyone who could hit the ball around 320+ yards that day

has a chance of winning and this event will show you that.  There

were 24 hitters at the regionals, all of them had a chance to win

becuase if you had to qualify to be there then your qualified to win

there.  Not too mention the handful of guys who never qualified but

could take it deep, just couldn't get past the nerves.

This is a chance to compete in another great competition, get a good

feel for what long drive is like, have a blast competing, you don't have

to travel a long way and spend tons of money, and the icing on the

cake is you have a very good chance of winning some money.

Jesse ran this event last year and basically made sure that everyone

got paid no matter what the bottom line costs were for the event.  I

know that a few guys made over a thousand dollars.  The format is

perfect for new guys too, because you can have one bad set and you

get two more.  No better format for truly allowing you to hit your best

drive and give you an opportunity to win some money without

spending a ton and travelling a ton.

that's my $0.02, hope it helps rather than hinders.  I have a lot of fun

at long drive events, whether I'm competitive or get knocked out

early it's always good times.  I'm there for the experience and

journey, it just so happens that sometimes you can win a little dough

to top it all off.

Let's find a date that is agreeable, fill up this event and put the hurt on some pinnacles......hoooyah!!

Now that is a great post Hutch!

I do have email addresses for any of the guys who actually filled them in on their reg forms.... i will be sending all of them an invite once the date is confirmed.

What are your guys thoughts on entry fees?  stay with $200 per event?  and stick with 3 events....or try 2?

Look forward to seeing you all again soon

Hi,

I say put out the $200.00 per event concept and let the number of confirmed participants decide if the amount is appropriate.  If you can get a full field at $600.00, I say proceed.  If interest is slow, I suggest considering dropping the $200.00 per event to something in the $100.00 per event range.  For me, I will likely not participate as I'm finding it harder these days to justify $600.00 for a one day event to my wife.  If I was feeling more confident in my swing this year, maybe I would feel differently.  We seem to be in a serious growth phase in AB, with so many new, young hitters, I'm wondering how many college students can find $600.00 for a day of LD.  If the idea is to continue to grow LD in AB, a lower rate may help, if however we're looking to attract some serious hitters, from within and outside of AB, I say go with the higher entry fees.  I hope I'm wrong and like last years great event, you're able to find many hitters that are ready to toss in their $600.00 and take a go at taking the prize.
As always, thanks for taking this on!

I agree with you Greg for the most part.  However, if a person can not afford the full $600, just compete in only 1 or 2 events, no?

$200 sounds good to me.

August 15 or 22 is looking good for me at this point.

I agree with greg as well, but not shawn Shocked  Ya put it out there at 2 bills and see the response and if you need to lower it then lower it.  I just want another chance to compete with some good guys, and have some fun, and the chance to win some dough is nice.  This format is so great that even if your not swinging well you get 18 balls to kill one in the first round basically so you are almost guaranteed to catch one good.  Will be a tight field that advances to the next round and again you get 12 balls so it will be tight again.  There were so many guys at the locals and districts here that can bring it, it would be a shame for them to miss out on a great experience and like i said a chance to win some dough and perhaps use that to travel to more events and buy clubs.

Hey Robinson and all,

Competing in a couple of events is a possible option at the higher rate and is something I would consider.  Personally I'd like to be able to hit in all three events at a lower rate, but again, if you're able to attract a complete field at $200.00 per, that's a good indicator that the entry fee cost is bang on for the majority.  I'll be happy to see the event fly either way.
Thanks.
