Rusults to come in shortly.  All I can say now is that we had almost 100 local trys on Friday, and over 100 on Saturday.  This made for a really good field of 24, for todays shootout.

Just heard that Mitch Rochette and, I believe, Marc Andre Beland advanced in Quebec. No distances but the final shootout was held in the dark.

McNally from St. Louis and Laroque a local hitter were the winners. Can't remember first names sorry guys, I should I was in the grid all day.  Weather on friday was very nice, hot and sunny with slight swirling winds, rained pretty much all day Saturday but still over 100 tries in the open div.  Sunday was strong winds right in the face all day. If you couldn't hit it low you were toast. Overall the event was great, Jesse did a very good job keeping everything rolling and still trying to hit ( which he did quite well by the way).   Looks like LD is alive and well in Canada agin , they had between 300-350 tries at 3 different sites in montreal this weekend from what Carson Way said. I think this guy I know from St. Paul alberta might have somethin to do with that.

Mitch Rochette and Marc Andre Beland made it through a very tough & strong field in Quebec. 4 man shootout in almost complete darkness, I was 4th , OB in the dark. Gird workers going by sound of balls landing
Huge turnout for the locals at 3 locations in Quebec, really amazing hitters came out of the woodwork!

Lloyd Laroque from Winnipeg area won the first spot with wonderful hitting.  He must have put 3 balls in play every set all well hit stinger draws or dead straight perfect ball flight for the conditions.  Hats off to a guy who just got started in long drive and was banging in out there all day.  Second spot was Brad McNally who also was hitting the ball well all weekend.  He posted some of the longest balls all weekend and confirmed again that he is a world class hitter who deserves a spot at the worlds.

The best part of the weekend was the amount of hitters that showed up, and man could they bring it.  Lot's of hitters from all over Alberta were there and they were impressive.  Some guys were hitting stock gear, OEM heads and still pounding it out there.  We even drew a few big name guys like Jesse Petterson, Vince Cuiruilini (sorry for spelling) who showed us what it takes to be top 10 in the world.

Jesse Hnidy once again put on a great event, he worked through the hiccups all the while competing himself and his grid workers and volunteers were the hardest working crew I've ever seen.  They loved watching us hit and the whole excitement of the event and they sure put in some long hours so thanks again to them.

Tough conditions to hit in though must have been around 50km/h+ winds, gusting at times.  Longest ball of day 3 was 347 yards by Jesse Petterson so you can appreciate how much wind there was.  Kevin said it right if you couldn't hit it low you were toast, after about 5 rounds or so all the high ball hitters got front row seats to watch the low ballers battle it out for the two spots.  I'm super excited for LD in Alberta and Canada and hopefully we can get more events this year and next.

I want to quickly thank Kevin Blenkhorn for showing up, even though he was not hitting, for helping out with questions, format and working the grid all day Sunday, and his fiance Brenda and their kids for picking up balls and getting food for the big gorilla.

Great event, great people, man I love LD!! Just need to find a way to make a little $$ at it or my wife will divorce me  Grin

Thanks for the kind words hutch. I had a blast up there and want to say that jesse ran a great event and all of the competitors were good-hearted guys that love the sport and love to see it grow.
I think I had dreams of the wind gusts blowing my face off last night after it was over!
Thanks again everyone,
