I would like to personally thank everyone who participated and attended the COLD Shootout this weekend. It was a success and it is great to see LD back on Canadian soil. A special thanks goes out to all the volunteers that helped make this weekend possible. Without you this event wouldn't of been able to happen. Thanks also goes out to the staff at the Deer Creek Academy, you were a pleasure to deal with and I hope we can make this an annual event.
Weather wasn't looking promising this morning but the rain stopped just before the first ball was in the air. A wet grid with swirling 25 kph winds for most of the day, predominately left to right. Here are the final results.
Senior:
Semi final Scott Cameron 328 Roy Alminas 333
Final George Slupski 353 Roy Alminas 323
Open:
Semi final Ryan Gregnol OB Marc-Andre Beland 349 Aaron Assi Newai 359 Erik Stevens 361 Carson Way 339 Jason Davies 325
Final (6 for 2 spots) Mitch Rochette 334 Aaron Assi Newai 351 George Slupski 358 Erik Stevens 358 Marc-Andre Beland 335 Chris Mason 356
In the Open finals the longest two balls were within inches of each other and we went to a 3 ball playoff for the first place trophy. Erik "I think I am going to go out and get a new pair of work boots" Stevens nudged out George Slupski to take home the win. Congrats goes out to George Slupski for qualifying in both the Senior and Open divisions this weekend. Good Luck in Mesquite fellas!!
Thanks again for everyones support and I look forward to doing it again next year!!
Cheers Hawk

I just want to say that Hawk, Stohack, Toddo and team did a great job in running the event this weekend, especially today under very difficult conditions. Thank you all for your work in running this event.
Could somebody please send me some contact info (or post it) for the venue as their hospitality also deserves recognition.

Its been a tough week physically for me, major dental work, strep throat, feels like a hernia from all the coughing. Told Hawk I couldnt compete in open too sore and too old..lol but figured I would donate the 150 bucks..lol. Great job by Hawk and Todd running the event and especially the ladies, in my 25 yrs of competing it was ran as good as I have seen this will always be on my list of places to compete and made sure alot of people knew my hatred for canadians was always in fun. Canada has always been at the top of my list even though u people talk funny ANIMAL

Here is the contact info for the Deer Creek Golf Academy. http://www.deercreekgolfacademy.com/Bobby Pelletier - CPGA Professional was the main contact person who helped us with organizing the event.

An amazing effort by the previously retired Animal who just two weeks ago had a hard time keeping up with a 14 year old in the Tam-O-Shanter Scramble. Way to go Big George!

Big thanks Ryan, Steve, Todd & everyone else that made this weekend happen.
This was my first long drive competition and after that experience I'm hooked.
I had a great time meeting everyone and thanks to those experienced competitors that took the time to offer advice and let me pick their brains while in the midst of competition. The sportsmanship on display this weekend was exemplary.
Thanks for the great experience.

It was an excellent event, well run everything went smoothly. Big thank You to the organizers and everybody who helped out. Congrats to Erik, and it was a pleasure to see The Animal in action smoothing them out there qualifying in both divisions. I'm still traumatized, but all in all besides the traumatization it was a great experience, and it was great to have Long Drive back on Canadian Soil. Chris Mason

Well thx to all as well it was a great weekend and even better as it was back on Canadian soil!
The final hitters and event was amazing--even looking back from the grid seeing George DOUBLE DIPPING in the Open for his second placing to Mesquite on the day as Senior Champ and Open runner up to Erik Stevens .
Thx as well to all who traveled and attended from Usa and out of Province to get there and show up to compete- look forward to seeing everyone again sooner than later at a teedeck somewhere .
It great to have LD back solidly in Canada and LDA/REMAX events to compete at and in. Deer Creek were amazing to work with as well.
Hawk & Karen (the two of you did and amazing thing getting this up and going to that degree and level again & I was glad to be part of it along with ya both --Thx for the Hotel Hawkins all weekend and see ya on Fri for the mixed up here!)

Slupski is a stud.
George, please tell me that you talked a little trash to the young pups. I will understand if you didn't because I love Canadians too. I would probably hit all my balls out of play, just so I wouldn't hurt any Canadians feelings.
I actually was well behaved and kept to myself. But alot of the young guys better learn how to become longdrivers, just being long doesnt mean your a longdriver. I wanted to grab about 10 by the neck and give them advice but then realized my advice might eliminate me so I kept quiet. So many more younger, stronger, longer kids now than I have ever seen but not as smart as you and I,OOP! I dont mean this as degrading its the next step they must take to learn the sport of longdrive and 90% dont have the knowledge but they will learn it with experience hopefully ANIMAL

Bring your lunch, Animal, it's going to be a long day at the worlds. BTW.. I haven't eaten any wild game lately, maybe some sort of Animal would taste good.
