Alright people,
a few new details about the event (more to come very soon I hope):

1) The final list of the international competitors (European hitters not included):

Vincent Ciurluini
Mick Yelovich
Ben Tuaone
Dewald Guows
Ryan Louw

2) SK Fiber is giving away three Titan (my favorite shaft) shafts as special prizes. I haven't decided yet how these will be dealt out but I was thinking as cateqories something like longest drive outside grid, longest drive in competition, best newcomer, highest ball speed, etcetcetc. A HUGE THANKS TO CHARLIE BLUME AT SK FIBER FOR DONATING THESE SHAFTS FOR THE EVENT!!!!!!!!!!

3) Same dress code as at World Championships - so basically you need to look like a golfer on the tee box.

4) The after party will be held at Flustret (http://www.flustret.se)

The grid will be in great shape with artificial turf tee box. They will start building it soon.

So the event is very much on and hopefully I can come up soon with even better news..........

Kari.

One more thing about this event:

it is NOT an invitational or closed competition, anyone can try to qualify for the main event. Qualifying sessions will very probably be held friday evening and saturday morning. The main event will be on saturday the 3rd of July.

Here comes the hotel info:

The hotel where the international hitters will stay and where we will have a special rate is First Hotel Linne, please check out their website for all the contact info:

http://www.firsthotels.com/en/Our-hotels/Sweden/Uppsala/First-Hotel-Linne

When booking a room say that you are coming to SÖDERBY GK and LONG DRIVE event.

The cost will be around 65 euros per room.

Another option is to stay at newly build apartments at the golf club, there are still rooms available (cheaper option too). If you are interested in that option please send me a PM.

I hit some balls on the competition grid today. The grid is getting flat and hard so there should be a good chance for some HUGE numbers out there if the weather just stays nice.

If there is one event in Europe you don't wanna miss................................

I have gotten some questions about qualifying and brackets. It will look something like this:

Friday qualifying 16.00-20.00 - 5 spots in play for the main event
Saturday qualifying 8.00-12.00 - 7 spots in play for the main event

The "big show" will start at 13.00.

6 brackets of 6 players, 2 qualifiers in each group. Double elimination format.

I will come out with the information about the entry fee and what it includes very soon!!! It will be around 1000kr (100e).

Just a little detail here:

the tee box will be 4mx8m and built with exactly the same material as the tee box in Mesquite.

On wednesday evening I should have all the details ready about the competition.
