Date:
Saturday March 13 2010.  Starts at 1pm and should take approx 3 hours.

Location:
Paradise Indoor Golf.  Red Deer Alberta.  #150, 6900 Tayler  Drive.  403-347-0400.  www.paradiseindoor.com

Format:
Based on 10 guys competing
We will be having 2 seperate cash events.  The first to start @ 1pm and the 2nd starting @ 2:30pm.  We have 2 sims booked.  One for warm-up and one for the competition.   Through random draw, everyone will hit 8 balls.  Then everyone is seeded in order from shortest to longest ball.   Round 2 (6 ball set) will determine the top 4 hitters to go the cash round.  The top 4 seeds from round 1 will only hit in round 2 if they get out drove by the bottom 6 seeds.  This will keep things moving time-wise.  For the finals, the Top 4 hitters will hit in order of the seeding from round 2, with the longest hitter getting the hammer.  6 balls each to determine the cash pay-out.  Each round hitting is done in pairs, alternating.

Cost:
$50 per hitter per event.  Again we would like to have 2 events.  Rental of the 2 sims will have to come out of the pot.  Rental of sims for 3 will be $200.

If the event fills up with 10 guys, The top 3 guys will get paid

If 6-9 guys show up, the top 2 will get paid out.

Event # 1 Hitters
1- Ryan Hart
2- Jesse Hnidy
3- Glen Hutch
4- Shawn Robinson
5- Terry Riou
6- Tim Hansen
7- Matt Gunning
8- Chris Miller
9-
10

Event # 2 Hitters
1- Ryan Hart
2- Jesse Hnidy
3- Glen Hutch
4- Shawn Robinson
5- Terry Riou
6- Tim Hansen
7- Matt Gunning
8- Chris Miller
9-
10-

* Any drive below 8 degrees will not count.  This will help stop the wacky readings that can happen on simulators.

* Hitters get 1:30 to hit 3 balls, and 2:00 to hit 4 balls (Very Casually Enforced).  Balls that are not picked up will get a free re-hit, unless the ball was obviously miss hit.

* Post here if your interested

* This is going to be another fun event, beers, music, etc...

*  Just bring your entry fee the day of.

* I have also been marking up balls with black sharpie lines, and the simulator seems to give much more accurate spin rates, and not just default numbers

Ryan,

Looking forward to having the guys in for another great day smashing golf balls....

What are we going to allow for a minimum launch angle?

I think a minimum launch angle of 8 deg will work best.  This will stop the weird readings from low launch hits.   Also it will make guys take a normal swing, rather than trying to "hood" the face closed which leads to the simulator not picking up balls.  Also the simulator has issues when you play the ball back in the stance, as your body can block the cameras.

Put me down for both events.  I don't think I can hit it lower then 9 degrees but I'm fine with the 8 degrees.  I don't know what Robinson and Greg are going to do with the lack of space issue but hopefully they decide to show up.  I had a lot of fun at the last event and look forward to this one.  Maybe Jesse will put a clip up of the last event we had and the best part about it is there won't be any shots of the camera hog Blenkhorn in it. Oh ya what about those codes the Neil was talking about?
Ryan was discussing it I believe.

The last event was in the only room that had more space for righty's, the other 2 rooms are more open for lefty's, so we will use them.  Also I have booked it to use the simulator that seems to pick up the balls the best, we didn't get to use this one last time.  I'm still playing around with codes.  But by using marked balls we won't have the top 8 drives within a yard of each other again.

Ryan, do you think we need to book the 2 simulators?  Once warmed up, the competition moves so fast, I don't think it is necessary IMO.  Ask everyone else what they think.  But, if it just eats into our pot, then I don't believe it is worth it.  Just get guys to show up 1/2 hour early, warm up, then "lets get it on!".  Or, just book the 2nd simulator for only 1 hour for warm-up purposes only.

I am most likley in, but will confirm in a few days.

Ya, just like last time the 2nd sim is booked for only the first hour.  If we get 10 guys we might need the main sim for 4 hours, and not just 3 hours.

If you are using the About Golf Simulator use the settings of 755 with light tail wind and wet turf and launch angles of 9-11* will be the optimum launch angles and the low launch angle won't win. We did a lot of testing and figured out what was best for high ball speeds

I emailed both of them. Haven't heard back from Geoff. But, Banik said he might be able to make it happen. Blenkhorn wants to, but is still unsure about his schedlule.
