And if you could also give the maximum fee you would pay for:

Option 1 (might be great to do it as a percentage. For example: 250 € fee for 5000 € 1st prize would make 5%)

Option 2

Option 3

Option 4

Option 5

Anyway, I will come back to you by the end of February with some events dates that will be run in France in 2010.

I don't care what the price is so long as competitor's entry fees do not equate to more than 50% of the prize fund.

There is no future in this sport if all we end up doing is hitting for our own money, there needs to be sponsorship money in the mix as well.

I've been told that it costs 30-50k to get an hour show televised, so it's not just a case of "getting it on TV". What is important is when you get the opportunity to get something on the TV, you produce something amazing that will then draw further interest from the audience and then more sponsors. Attention to detail is everything. Do you think the TV productions of long driving aired to date in Europe have had major impact? Could they have been done any better?

none of the above. for me , i just want to compete in a quality ,  well run , well executed event , that looks and feels professional, money is nice obviously but thats not the be all and end all . When youve been to the worlds and especially if you have hit in the competition - you realise how good it is and how all events could be executed. Even when you are hitting on the warm up range next to the tee in mesquite , the way its layed out and the way it makes you feel is very professional , like any pga tour event. Thats the key for me , and thats what the sport needs more of.  After doing this for 11 years I need to win the world championship just  to break even.  Tongue Wink

Now then Now then!
Good post by Dan! very well said. I agree totally. The better its done, the more seriously we will be taken the more sponsors will jump on board. Also if there is a prize fund, have it go down a few more places. Times is hard and the more people we can get going to the events the better. If there is a good chance you can win at least some of your money back it would be attractive to more people. This is me saying it for the mortal hitters such as myself! ;-)
The KLM open event was heading in the right lines although many a trick were missed I feel. Just my opinion. Something like that should have springboarded us into the mainstream a wee bit. Like I have said before, if they can show bloody premier league bowls on SKY, then long driving is a no brainer, if done right. Having experienced the Worlds for the first time this year what was noticable over anything was how the actual event ran smoothly and professionally. The frills and spills are all well and good ( and appreciated) however all that stuff will come after the actuall event is done perfectly. Blimey thats 2 sensible posts by me, I think I may go and lie down now!  Tongue Wink

I once spoke with Barry Hearn about promoting LD around 4 yrs ago, stuff like premier league bowls, darts, pool, snooker etc do have much more of a fan base compared to LD. He told me that the only way he'd consider promoting our great sport, was for us to create a UK/Euro LD site, that contains a forum showing alot of Britih people INTERESTED in LD.

and for you people who don't know who Barry Hearn is - he's the dogs. Im not sure if he is still runs Matchroom Sports ltd??? I think maybe one of his sons has taken over??? He's only into Snooker and darts big time now me thinks

Anyway, he saw a bunch of DVD's that I'd filmed of all you guys at some of the good events (Stockholm/Brollsta, Finland/Espoo, Adam Stacey's gig on the green etc) and he loved it.
