winters are long in Northern Ohio-
some of us get together and hit on simulators (About Golf) that are located just west of Cleveland
Was wondering how much interest there is in doing some 'indoor' events thru the winter?
4 simulators available-

I'd definitely be interested Neil.  Sorry about not showing last time, me and Jake had some miscommunication about where we were meeting to carpool.  I know a few guys who are starting to get interested in LD that would probably come along too.

Hey Neil,

I was thinking the same thing for my area here just south of Chicago.  Are your simulators mobile or at a location?  Just thinking that maybe we could have a series of events.  I have great indoor space to setup event.
Getting back to your question, I would be interested in events.

These are set simulators-About Golf simulators- 4 of them
People are great there-I had a chance to work out of there thru winters but went somewhere else instead-
I still do fittings thru there
They are just re-opening for the colder months and I'll be going in probly next week to talk with them about plans-
If we get enough guys I'm sure we could use minimum 2 and maybe all 4 sims to make it go fast.
Give me some entry fee ideas?
Some input?
Some more interest?

Doubling my chances to find my tee shot

I would definitely try to make at least one event.

I'm assuming that the monitors will read out the total yardage that is what we will go by, or is it more highest ball speed wins?

I dont think highest ballspeed or swing speed wins events-if it did-i know a few that would win but could not hit a 100+ yard wide grid with 20+ balls
so simple answer-yardages
finals would all be done on same simulator-groups would be done on the others to keep it even
the About Golf Sims with Flightscope are some of the most accurate out there-settings on them will be set properly-no beefing them up (unless I'm up there with a senior handicap)

ps-grid workers will not be paid by participants so it is not swayed-
also equipment used will be available to anyone to use so as not to play favorites-
I can think of alot more to post but will stop there-i like to stay in reality

Thanks Neil

I've really only hit on the Vectors monitors at Golfsmith, and those are very touchy.  I haven't hit on the monitors you use, so I was curious.

we know what settings these need to be on!
Frank,Ryan and a few others have hit on them so we know-we do get the occassional 495 yarder but those only count when it's for money and if it is my shot  Grin

The About Golf simulators are awesome.

My only advice is to take whatever balls you'll be hitting and mark them up with the black lines, just like the plain balls with no logo's that come with the simulators.  It does help with the spin rate readings.

BTW a 200+ mph ball on an About simulator is a really well hit ball.

I get some good hourly rates and we split it between all the hitters so it is very low
wanna say last time we had 8 guys on 2 sims for 2-3 hrs and it cost like 15 ea
if we get more-and everyone wants to pitch in we can get toffu and mineral water also-maybe some salads?
place is big-has a weight room-bar tables and we have had alot of fun there

enuff room as long as you arent to flat in your swing
own tees
we set up portable Zelocity and SS radars at times also
i'd say these are one of the most accurate systems out

See ya soon,

we can make it what people want-that's why I asked for input-
prob do more than 1 maybe 3 indoor and 3 outdoor-i'm not playing no-mo!
have the facilities so why not
will talk with a few guys when we get together this weekend and feel it out and see what we can come up with
this isn't for me this is for you guys and an attempt to grow the sport and give people a place/places to compete
hell-I'm in the 'no where near where I physically need to be to be competitive catagory'
doesn't mean I don't support it
now it's up to the hitters to step up

As I said -we will all talk this weekend-get some sort of hitting schedule going and go from there
