No, he played defense. Defensemen aren't capable of such things. However, if a defenseman was on the ice, that kid would have been creamed before he even got close to the net.  Shocked Grin

For anyone to have that kinda stick and puck control as a KID and only 9 yrs old is scary and shows a huge future if he continues to work on his whole game----but as SBK said---not as easily done when ya have a D-man bearing down on ya with his sights set on a HIGHLIGHT REEL HIT ----in his brain either!!

Fun to watch ina  shoot out set up though!

OK the penalty shot has no defenseman but a goalie, is that what this video is showing?
Hockey's most exciting play is a one-on-one battle of hands, skills, reflexes and skating. So, what are goalie and shooter thinking in these wrenching seconds?

As a goalie this looks like a round house kick and would have to be the hardest shot to read.

ya sure looks good when its in the twine after its over---but try and immagine a COACH on the bench if ya try that shot and miss the net or loose control of it as ya set it up!   its like a trick shot in golf in reality----yes it was done during a  OT shoot out or as a Penalty shot attempt.   And sure this KID has loads of talent to do it too!
But doubt you will see it in the NHL anytime soon!

They interviewed that kid on sportscenter and he said that he has tried that shot about 20 times and only made it once!  haha  Pretty impressive to have the guts to try that shot!  His dad is swedish and played professional hockey as well.  Good genes!

Lots of goalies get good at reading bloop shots, or ones that don't come off the ice but from up high.

Coming in from that angle would be tough to defend but the goalie isn't making much attempt to block anything.

I'm guessing the coach knows it's coming, but like Toddo said, if Oliver misses who laughs now?

Great talent, good genes, hard work = success.

Man i love kids sports.
