Wolter Wins in St. Louis with 393 Yard Blast!
Top-Flite XL Pure Distance Helps Deliver Crushing Blows.
The Players Tour new ball gets rave reviews. For the 3rd event of the year, The Players Tour new ball, the Top-Flite XL Pure Distance, became an instant success as it helped create an exciting and memorable competition in St. Louis at Crystal Springs Quarry Golf Complex on July 31.
The 2002 Re/Max World Longdrive Champion, Carl Wolter, breezed through the competition en route to his first Players Tour win with the longest drive of the day, a huge 393 yard bomb. The enthusiastic crowd roared as he launched his ball into the grid, and fellow competitors were saying that they have never seen a ball hit with that much force. Wolter said, ?For the first time in over a year I could swing with 100% confidence.? This confidence comes as a result of the encouragement and support from his sponsors, Alpha Golf and his swing coach, Ben Witter. Wolter also said, ?I loved the one day event and The Players Tour gives off a positive vibe with reassurance that the players are being rewarded.?
Four inches of rain soaked the grid on Friday morning. ?We had a feeling that we were going to have a problem keeping the new Top-Flite balls from running out the end of the grid, but with all the rain we knew it wouldn?t be an issue,? explained John Coe of The Players Tour. For the finals the competitors backed up to the top level of the tee box to showcase why they had made it that far. With two on a tee box hitting 8 balls with virtually no time between hits, Top-Flites were sailing into orbit at a rapid pace, creating an extraordinary finals with the crowd going ballistic with every swing. The event was a true double elimination into the semi-finals, turning into single elimination. Competitors in the finals included, the always consistent Dave Mobley (2nd), the always powerful Dave Gureckis (3rd), and the intimidator, George ?The animal? Slupski (4th). Other notables were The Players Tour rankings leader, John Downey (5th), 2nd in the rankings, Vince Howell (6th), and Frank ?Tunnel Vision? Miller, 3rd in the rankings, taking 1st in the Senior Division and 8th in the Open division. Frank said ?This event is becoming a great venue to showcase my talents and I loved the new Top-Flite ball.? Pat Dempsey with
