Lets give you all some more info on this idea,

Friday night,
Welcome dinner and poker tournament for LD players as well as the players in the Pro/Am.

Saturday
Pro/Am golf tournament. (Benefiting a charity)
1st place $3,000
2ND place $2,000
3rd place $1,000
Money is paid to LD Pro only.

Sunday LD event
1st place $18,000
2ND place $6,000
3rd place  $3,000

All included in the $1,000 entry fee, (LD GUYS ONLY) Also please note that all money will be paid that day, no waiting on checks, cash money!!!

Again this is purely conceptual at this point I am just trying to get an idea of intrest, as for other division Mr. Reader I am sure that if we could generate enough intrest or should I say entry's for another division we would do that.

And for those that have voted no and would like to change their vote to yes after seeing the details please leave your name, I don't want to waste stamps or time down the road........ Wink

Let me make sure I understand this.  You go from $500 entry fee and $10,000 First Place to $1,000 entry fee and First Place gets $18,000.  What am I missing here?

Who charges a $500 entry fee? And what event paid out a $10,000 first place?

If you are talking LDA events I think they are $600 entry and a $12,000 first place, I THINK.  Also they have larger fields 48 players.

The idea behind this is....

1. Raise some money for a charity
2. Have a golf tournament that normal people can play with a LD pro
3. Have a cash paid money event that we can all hit in.

Again, we are not trying to compete with any other events, All I keep hearing and seeing is we "myself included" want more money events to hit in..........so here we are.  Now I will say this, the money payouts should go up should we get some sponsor money to add to the pot........I am hoping by the time we do this event to have a $25,000 1st place......we think its very possible that this could happen........another thing we are looking at is covering all the rooms for the LD guys for both nights.......not done yet but working on it.  So you tell me.....

This is the package we hope to have in place for the event.

Friday and Saturday nights room-covered
Friday night dinner and Saturday lunch-covered
Minimum $4,000 payout to 1st place LD Golf Team PRO-covered
Entry into LD on Sunday-covered
Minimum $18,000 1st place payout-covered

All for your $1,000 entry fee.

How deep would you pay? Would it be an extremely top heavy payout, seems that it would be? If you brought a team would that change the entry fee?

Gringo brings up an interesting point of being top heavy.  The worlds are more top heavy than this event.  Should events pay deeper allowing more players to break-even or should events continue to pay only the top 8 with majority of the money on a percentage basis(60+%) going to first.  Does the allure of a large payout create demand more than the need to pay deep?

Hopefully, Bart will hold his event in June.  He constantly brings a high level format that easily competes with the lda on quality and great payouts.  It is a credit to Bart.  He has raised a considerable amount of money for the hospital.  A great time and always a great job by Bart.

Hi Gringo,

What would you consider a fair payout?  I'm a part of this and want it to be a yearly event.  Our charity will be people who have fallen on hard times, lost a loved one who was the sole provider, a child who may be sick and his or her parents doesn't have insurance, a fallen solider, etc.  We will send out a questionnaire to the individuals chosen asking of there needs.  One or two families will be chosen.  We will pay off a bill, buy food, appliances, a wheel chair, hospital bed or what ever there needs may be.  I have three reasons for wanting to be involved; I truly love Long Drive and the many wonderful people that I have met over the past 5 years, I want to be a positive force in helping with money events and my heart is and will always be to help my fellow man.  My family has been in the middle of hell twice and we survived and still are, but there are families that don't have the help they truly need.  No one here is trying to compete with the LDA, Bart’s event, ALDA or anyone else.  All puts on a great event, we just want to be apart as well.  We are just trying to make a difference in a positive way.  Giving you and other top LDAers another great event and help one of our own here in the USA get through there hell.  You and others may possibly know someone who has fallen on hard times.  Think about how you could positively effect there lives.  My family has a great deal of respect for you, so if you and others wouldn’t mind giving us some positive feedback we would appreciate it.

Kudos to BIGSTYXX for wanting to make a positive difference, this is his event of which he has put together a committee to make this happen, I’m one of them with several others.  I will let BIGSTYXX list the others if he so chooses.

Good luck in 2009.
Regards,
Brenda Prudham

Brenda,

It is awesome that you guys are doing this and that you are trying to help people that really need it. Makes this a very worthwhile endeavor. In my opinion and from some of the griping that I have read on this site, most want deeper payouts and I tend to agree. I do understand why the LDA did it for the Championship but for smaller events, pay more and more are happy. $18,000 sounds great but there are not many that would be mad at 15 or 12 for first if the payout was deeper.

My other question was about the Pro-Am and the payout. Where does that money come from and what is the format? Most events that I have been in the Pro-am is most successful when it is a scramble or shamble format. People want to play our tee shot, especially when we hit from the same box as them. Personally, the Pro-Am is about the participants and not the Pro. Not sure 30 guys grinding it out all day is conducive for the people that pay.

Again these are just my thoughts. I wish you all the luck and hope that this event happens. We can always use more great events. That is what will make the "sport" grow.

The format would in fact be a scramble or shamble.  The Pro shop will in fact be handling the Golf Tournament, (Greg Prudham and his staff).  We have had many scramble or shamble formats with great success.  The $1000.00 entry fee will cover everything that BIGSTYXX has listed,

This is the package we hope to have in place for the event.

Friday and Saturday nights room-covered
Friday night dinner and Saturday lunch-covered
Minimum $4,000 payout to 1st place LD Golf Team PRO-covered
Entry into LD on Sunday-covered
Minimum $18,000 1st place payout-covered

We are all meeting with BIGSTYXX tomorrow to make final arrangements to move forward.  He will post final details and dates by next week.

Thanks for your reply.

Gentlemen,

I am meeting with the board tomorrow, and should be posting more up to date details at that time.............Get ready THE WAR is coming...........and I would also like to thank all of you for your input and feedback, our goal with this is for it to be our event (Our meaning the LD community) and we welcome all suggestions.  On that topic would you rather see a $15,000 1st place and pay the top 8 or keep the big money for the winner?
