Attention All Western Canadian Long Drivers

St. Albert Trail has informed me that as of today they are no longer able to host long drive events at their facility.  Their property was sold to a developer some time ago and they are unable to host any long drive events in the future for a couple reasons.

1. There is a road going in straight across the grid at the 400 yard mark.

2. They are unsure if they are going to renew there lease on the land as it has expired

I am looking to all Western Canadian Long Drivers to help me find some suitable locations to host local qualifiers and to host the WLDC and EDC Regional Finals.

I can only imagine how dissapointed all of you were last year to not have your own district especially when that region used to have the most tries of any region in North America.

If any of you have sites in mind and/or are able to help host some local qualifier events please send me an email at brett@longdrivers.ca or call me at 705-762-4653

Thanks
Brett

Hi Brett,

Thanks for keeping us in the loop.

Can't help you much, but I would be curious to know why several locations have discontinued hosting competitons over the past few years.  In particular, in 05, there were local events at 4 locations across Alberta that I am aware of.  Maybe with a little push from someone in your position, these locations could be convinced to get back involved.

Good luck!

Hey Brett.

Hope the guy from Sylvan got a hold of you....They held the event last year and the year before. He sounded excited. Also the Re/Max guys locally here are not interested in doing the volunteering for this anymore. I asked them today as I sell Real Estate locally and had to call them anyway. Something will work out though.
I have a few companies that may be interested in helping with advertizing....Nothing for sure yet though.

Thanks Brett

Thank you to all the Western Canadian Long Drivers who are stepping up to help get the sport where it should be in that region.  Specific thanks to Lisa Vlooswyk, Shawn Robinson, Tim Hansen and Jamey Ferrier for your efforts.

We need to keep things going strong and get some dates set up so we can have a great Regional Championship in August.

Thanks
Brett
