I am thrilled to announce that the 2008 Canadian Long Drive Championship will be held July 24-26 at the beautiful Nottawasaga Resort in Alliston, ON.  Alliston is approximately 45minutes north of the Toronto Airport and approximately 3 hrs from the Buffalo Airport.

Please check out the facility at http://www.nottawasagaresort.com/. Note the Ontario Regional Finals will also be held at this facility Sept. 12-14.

The resort and I are currently working out the details on room and meal packages so stay tuned for details on that very soon.

The Canadian Long Drive Championship will consist of a Pro Am event on Thursday July 24 followed by a banquet and welcome reception.  Friday July 25 will be the qualifying rounds with the final show to be conducted Saturday night July 26th.  Saturday night will have a celebrity Long Drive Competition, The Canadian Championship Final Rounds and to top off the evening a Team USA vs Team Canada team match for North American Bragging rights.  Jason Zuback is currently scheduled to be the Team Canada captain, A Team USA Captain will be announced soon.

This event is going to be televised throughout Canada.

This event will be open to Canadian Long Drivers that have met certain competition criteria as set forth by the LDC Players Commitee.  We are also opening up the event to American and other International Players on an invitational basis as selected by the LDC Players Commitee. I am also kicking around the idea of an on site qualifier on July 24th for non exempt Canadian Players only.

Exempt Canadian Competitors and US and International Players can expect to see an invite from me via email within 7-10 days.

While I cannot confirm the exact purse right this second I can tell you that the winner of this event will cash the largest cheque in Canadian Long Drive History and the highest finishing Canadian not already exempt will receive a berth in the 2008 Remax World Long Drive Championships.

I will have more details regarding the resort and the final prize purse very shortly.

Thanks everyone and if anyone has any questions please feel free to email at brett@longdrivers.ca

This sounds like a class event Brett.   I've been to Nottawasaga several times and the venue is perfect. If you need any help, just drop me a line. (I just bought a new camera!)

Well done Brett! It's about time that there was a "true" Canadian Long Drive Championship. Nottawasaga is a spectacular resort and the grid is one of the best that I've ever seen. Having Jason and several of the other more well known Canadian longdrivers will really raise the bar on this event. Are there plans on having various divisions such as Women's, Senior, Super Senior??

Great news and a great location...nice and central so everyone can get it.  I hope you do have a qualifier I would like to sneak in there somehow.

Glad to see someone is championing LD in Canada...we need it.
