Let's be honest it's hard enough to get to the worlds at any time and if you can find an easier way in you take it well done to Dan for actually finding a route in wish I could've played against 9 amateurs to get a world spot brilliant!!

Why would it not be posted on here?
I understand there were many qualifying venues and sub 300 yards got you to the finals
Sure others would have liked to have known

Congrats Danny Boy! Long Drive competition is what it is, no controversy here. I am impressed how many people tried. These sorts of sponsored competitions are needed to build recognition, fan base and lders. I hope this spreads, lots of long hitters out there I've heard.

Wasn't  the best conditions by a long way. Dan, you didn't mention the lucky bounce off the sprinkler head at 290 mate. Haha.  Didn't  use c word on first post. You pulled the shot out when it mattered and won. Top man.

Amateur customers? Like those who don't compete, haven't cashed a check or declared pro at a World Championship?

Here is the text from the website. I can´t find that its about amateurs. As you can see there were a few people participating. And besides what you are insinuating in your post remember Rebecca Mcginley won the Ladies division. She is a professional playing the LETAccess and LET tour. And yes, it was Slater that wrote the words you got hanged up on but that was what you focused on in your post. Everybody had their chance. Dan happened to pay attention and do it. Congrats Dan!

Held over the May bank holiday weekend, golfers from all over the UK headed to their local American Golf stores to take part in The American Golf Long Drive Championship. With great prizes from Garmin and the overall winner receiving a trip to America in 2016 to take part in the famous World Long Drive Championship, there was plenty of interest in the event with all 104 stores packed out for the occasion.

To make the competition fair, players were separated into three groups: Open (<45), Senior (45+) and Ladies.

Each golfer was given three attempts to hit the ball as far as possible, with winners from each store receiving a Garmin Vivoactive™ watch – – but only 16 winners qualifying for the Grand Final at The American Golf National Golf Academy, High Legh on 21st August.
