I have a question on ssr. I know this has been beat to death. This is a personal question towards me. My numbers on the ssr are 120-128 mostly 122-125ish. Now heres the question i've been to the worlds three times, as recent as 2010. I took this year off, I won districts at age 42 in o4, hitting 375 which won by 26yds. I've hit over 400yds at locals. This is so puzzling to me and those i hit with. I only posted what i've done in this sport to show how purplexing this is to my friends and I. they are consistly in the 130- 140 range.  I would be grateful to any insite to my question on why I have low speed numbers on the ssr compared to everyone i hit with. Thanks

well I place it one foot away from tee at a 45 deg angle. I guess i should  have also noted that when i hit with my long drive friends we take turns on the tee hitting five balls at a time. So the ssr is always at the same position for all of us.

I won the 05' Texas regionals swinging in the 120's.  You have a much heavier hit on the ball the your friends.  Case closed.

It's not all about speed, quality of strike has a huge effect on how far you hit a ball. You must have a very solid impact.

ssr is not a good device to compare different players speeds

ssr is not a good device to compare different players speeds

If multiple players are using the same ssr unit, have the location of the ssr in the same spot for everyone, have identical weather conditions, and are hitting one right after another...why not?  It very well could be different on Trackman but with the ssr only measuring swing speed and all things being equal for that unit, what are the possible variables to affect it?

Case reopened...what are the factors that go into making a heavier hit?

it's all due to SWING PATH and way the clubhead approaches the READING AREA----same position(of the SSR) doesn't equate to the CLUBHEADS ALL COMMING THRU THE SAME ZONE IN SAME WAYS -----that's why they are  not the be all and end all for figuring swing speeds --cause it can and is fooled by some approachs and ways that head goes thru that READING ZONE!!!

The case was never closed for this one...it was closed and reopend for "heavier hit".

Yep, you can definitely get some abberant numbers based on club head path coming into the reading zone...most of the time when they're horrific swings coming over the top and snap hooking the dog crap out of it or straight down like a sledge hammer and popping it straight up.  They read the highest.  But there just won't be that much of a variance between one swing speed and another if they're solidly hit and somewhat straight regardless if it's swinging from way inside to out in right field or outside to inside as long as the ball is staying in a grid if one man hits or multiple men.

Reopened...

Thank you all for your insite, the heavy hit comment was a confirmining one to me. I've been told that i have a powerful swing and hit the ball solid. I just would like to see more speed with power. Thanks again for all your input. God Bless, Jeff     CASE CLOSED?    LOL
