When it comes down to club head speed, (no other readings).  What would be anyone's guess or input on How many mph on average the trackman is lower than the average ssr measurement given that the hitter isn't trying to manipulate the ssr by intentionally hooking the ball.

I use the ssr monthly to show my students their progress and also to look at my own progress and that's it.  My guess is 10-15 mph difference on average discarding the freak numbers that happen on the ssr.

I think if the readings are under 100mph it is pretty accurate. My iron #s are the same on trackman and my ssr. I believe the driver numbers are around 10% higher on ssr. You will hear different readings from everyone so I think it is best just to track you increases on the same type of monitor.

Place it in the right spot and I see close to trackman numbers. Try this, if you know what your trackman #s are, move the ssr to different spots untill the #s are close. Then you will be getting the same #s. With mine I put it about 4 inches behind the ball at a 45* angle with the it facing towards the back. It stays very close to my trackman #s. This is what works for me and it prevents the ball confusion. I never get crazy high readings with it set up this way.

From my experience they are very similar, highest reading on my ssr is 144 and on trackman 142. I set my ssr aprox 6 inches away 90 degrees to the ball( the display faces me). I have never had a high reading from the ball with this set up.

What colour SSR are you using, I don't know why but it seems to me all the crazy readings tend to come from the blue one and the red one seems more accurate. I could be totally wrong on this though Cheesy

I do have the red version with the tempo timer. I do not have one single complaint with the machine. I have never had any crazy high readings and always seems to be very close with the various lm I have used.

I should just clarify I came to my above conclusion from reading other peoples posts-not because of my personal experience. I personally have had very few outlier readings. I can count less than 10 with 100s of balls used and the majority happened when I just got the ssr and didn't know how to place it on the ground properly in reference to the ball.

i think alot of how the ssr reads has to do with your angle of attack at the ball.. if your really steep and hook or draw the ball then the difference between your ssr numbers and trackman will be greater cause it reads the fastest moving thing going by it.. however if you fade the ball or hit it somewhat straight then it will read closer to the same on trackman and ssr.. i have hit with 2 of the top 8 this year and been on ssr with both and seeing their trackman numbers on tv and seeing them on the ssr i can say that one hits a fade and is closer to the same on the ssr as on the trackman.. the other is steeper and hits high draws and is alot different on ssr then trackman.. both r really fast swingers but bacause of the swing path differences they read very much differently on the ssr.. just some ideas for you to ponder.. i do think you guys are on to something with having it so far behind the ball though..

Thanks for all the input guys.  It's a big help

Jim when you say you hit with two of the top 8 how many mph from trackman and ssr varied with the hitter that had a steeper swing that drew the ball.

What is the fastest consistent numbers anyone has seen on a ssr

the fade guy was maybe 6-8mph less on trackman then on ssr.. the draw guy was 160+on ssr.. 147 was highest i seen for him on trackman.. also.. try putting the ssr on baseball mode when you hit.. it also is closer to trackman that way..

If you're constantly hitting 160 per ssr, you are hitting the ball harder than at least 95% of lders... Pretty rare thing to see

And to think-
Carl Wolter wins this year with speeds in the mid/upper 130's and George wins last year in lower 130's in seniors
