Hey Guys, I got on the LM today and found that I have about 2300rpm for ball spin. Does anyone know how to lower that? I know many factors go into it, but any advice will be helpful. Thanks!

Trying hitting up on the ball. Check you approach angle into the ball. 2300 is not bad.....what is your launch angle ?

When I told someone I could put topspin on a golf ball, he called me nuts. In fact, hitting up with a full release can lower spin rate a lot. Under spin or high spin rate comes from even the slightest downward impact angle. I believe a +3 or better AOI will lower spin rate.

If a ball is hit into the air it has backspin not topspin, it can have less spin but not topspin unless your goal is to drive the ball into the ground.

My AOI was +3 degrees. The launch angle was 16 degrees. I use a driver with 7.5 degrees of loft.

Get on a launch monitor that is credible, bring a video recording device. I would try 3 variables and take notes. Weight distribution at address, ball position and tee height to see what your spin rate #s do differently. There are a lot other mechanics that will help lower your spin. That is why if you video record yourself on a launch monitor you can see what swings were good#s and bad #s . Example on your higher spin rate hits your left arm could be breaking down.

smear some vaseline on your driver face . it will lower your spin and as a bonus ,,,,, get you DQ'd from any competiton.
flatter impact plane catching the ball just past apex works pretty well to ...

What monitor are you hitting on?
Most just use calculated values based on ball mph and launch angle.
The About Golf sim uses cameras for spin, but above 190mph it will start to use calulated values, just because it can't pick up the markings on the ball.
Trackman seems pretty good on using the whole ball flight to guess an actual spin rate.
Measuring spin at long drive speeds is still done best by watching your actual ball flight outside.

Very simple answer, use less loft. 7.5 degrees of loft and a 16* launch angle with 2300 MPH would be awesome on a carry grid. Use a 5* or 6* driver and you should see that launch angle lower to around 14* and hopefully see your spin rate drop too. Guys on this site would kill for a 14* launch angle and sub 2500 RPM spin rate. If you are consistent and can generate enough ball speed you will be a very strong competitor.

-Angle of attack +5 / + 10 -Hitting from the inside 5 / 8 degrees! (This one is often overlooked..)

3 Keys to Lowering Backspin:
1. Use less loft. 2. Use a stiffer shaft with a higher kick point. 3. Hit the ball squarely - release the clubhead on time.
Angle of attack has nearly ZERO effect on spin, as was previously thought. Technically it is around 26 rpm of spin per degree, IIRC. But hitting down usually requires more loft, therefore more spin loft.
