Because travelling to Sweden and Nevada would require a modest bank robbery. Cry

Working on it... But it will certainly be an Invitational in 2012... Main info for the moment... 24 Players with 12 paid...
Should take place mid may...
We are working on a 3 years deal and will grow the field up in 2013...

Some guy was supposed to do a RE/MAX qualifier + cash down that way a year or two back but that never happened probably because he realised that LDA wanted him to pay to run their event!

not tough to get involved in really ! if you think you got game , pay your money and enter the Aldila world matchplay event . easy . dont know many sports where you can just pay and enter with a chance to win 25000$.

If you wanna know if you are long enough to compete , easy , go hit on a launch monitor - hit it over 200mph ball speed , below 3000rpm and be able to hit it straight , then you are good to go!!!

now dooooooooooooo iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiitttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttttt Angry

Its also a tough old game to sell!  the UK especially, im not surprised the LDE shut their doors, i miss them! Had lots of fun and met some great guys at their events, cant afford to go abroad at the moment, maybe next year, turn 50 next september, means i can get straight into super seniors at worlds,  might be a painful (and expensive!) experience  Grin lol.

I,m not sure about UK events in 2012, never say never, but good luck to anyone who takes the plunge and runs an event anywhere in Europe.

I enjoyd their events, nobody else was doing it, i also think they would still be in business if they were makin good money, stands to reason, the LDE has nothing to do with the lack of competitions in the uk.

In Scandinavia, they love their extreme/strong man sports and have great tradition. Apparently, if Lindblom and Edblad walk down a street in Sweden, people know who they are. In the UK, if Miller walks down the street, no-one knows, nor do they give a crap, who is he. That is no slight on Joe, that's just the way it is. If it's not football (or rugby in Wales), no-one cares and even then it has to be top-end.

I think it's all about the individuals and willpower to make something happen. Orresta guys are very motivated running their event and so am I. If someone in the UK would really wanna make something happen I can't see why it would be impossible. Of course that person has to have a pretty good insight of long driving and understand the reality of the sport. Maybe APG can put up some kind of a guide out there that would help the people thinking about running an event to make them understand what is needed (money and manpower wise) to make it work. That way people/gold clubs around Europe would know better what it takes and maybe we could get more events around Europe in the future.
