Wow, so a couple of months ago I was knocking the ball maybe 250 yards carry on the range with a 10.5 degree driver and about the same with an 8.5 degree. The odd shot looked to go way out for me to about 280 with range balls. Just an estimate as the last marker is 250.
I've never been huge into golf but I've had a go on and off for about 15 years. I just like belting the ball as far as I can, not having to find it or get it in a pesky hole.
So for a bit of fun I ordered a bangomatic on a 47' xstiff shaft. The LD shafts were a bit too pricey for me. It was just a bit of fun. Got a 6.5 degree. Was going for a 4.5 degree but they sold out. If 6.5 was ok for Sadlowski I thought it would be ok for me.

Anyway I always used to slice the ball like 95% of players until I changed my grip a bit. Somehow over time I got a nice draw on irons and could hit the drivers I had pretty well. Gradually though my swing got worse and for the last few months I couldnt hit any driver of any kind at all. My shots were going low and left duck hooking. The strange thing was my iron shots were still really nice.

No matter what I was doing my driver was always coming in closed and de-lofted.

Now finally thanks to reading Ben Hogan's book and setting up my grip like in his book I can finally hit the driver again. I now believe that the club was too much in the fingers of my left hand and it absolutely destroyed my swing.

I've now got a vardon grip and my hands are really close together. It feels really strange again. Almost like I'm not holding the club at all. I just have to have faith that at impact i'm going to hit the ball. It seems to be working. I've always had problems with specifically the grip.

So has anyone else ever gone through a period like this?

I must assume the book was 5 Lessons by Ben Hogan?  Probably the finest book ever written concerning the proper fundamentals.  To this day it is still one of the top sellers.....we are talking over 50 years!  Is there any serious golfers out there that haven't read this book?  If you haven't do yourself a favor.........simplicity as Genius!

No it's not a joke?  Huh?

Yes the book is 5 lessons. Absolutely brilliant. My grip has always been the biggest problem but this book has helped me so much.
