Hey guys:

I know that it kicked around a while ago so I apologize for the redundancy... What are the options for travel bags that accommodate 50 inch drivers? Is there an economical variety and a nicer one? What do you all use?

I recently bought the Ogio Monster bag; it is a little higher in price but fits a staff bag with about 7 drivers in it and seems to keep clubs pretty safe.

I use the Club Glove Last bag XXL, easily fits 50" clubs. However, it isnt the cheapest one.

I have one of the club glove xxl things now but frankly the most hassle free travel experience is to just buy either a light weight stand bag (with the pop out legs) or a "sunday bag" along with one of those cheap hard case travel things. You put the clubs in with heads at the top and the bottom of the case toss in the stand bag or sunday bag along with tons of other stuff.

The only reason I finally bought the club glove XXL was I felt like a goober as the only guy without a staff bag. The club glove xxl will fit your full size bag and a good number of clubs but not near as many as the other method which can carry 15 LD clubs.

Ogio mammoth accommodates staff bags and 7 to 10 drivers plus tons of clothes which I pack for a little added padding.

I've had club glove (last bag) for ten yrs. one trick to keeping clubs from getting damaged at the airport. (airlines make you sign a waiver because its not a hard case) put your iron upside down in the bag. IRON heads can break shafts if there upright. then put all your drivers in bag,  turn all heads out so you can tie all shafts together w/rope(shoe lace). when placing golf bag in club glove(last bag) put heads towards wheels, reason being the plastic section protects clubs more then the top. I still pack clothes around shafts were there exposed. plus the bottom of your golf bag(staff bag) is shielding top of travel bag from being crushed. This all works well if you have CLUB GLOVE(LAST BAG) & STAFF GOLF BAG.

while we are on this topic...... has anyone else notices the TSA love affair with long drive clubs. The only time I don't get one of those inspection notices is when I travel without the long drive clubs.

It is like they just gotta see what all the damned drivers are about.

Brad,
The reason you see a TSA tag every time you travel with longdrive clubs. The club clove last bag and other oversize travel cases don't fit in there scanning machine like normal luggage. By law they have to inspect your case manually. I usually watch them so I can have everything put back the way it was packed.
