We didn't quite get to the pendular backswing idea - there were other things going on that trumped it, and we wanted to keep things as simple as possible. I do think Brad will have more success once his backswing starts to be more in rhythm.
That being said, we established two priorities: 1. Adjust some address angles to allow for a more on plane motion naturally. 2. Make a full and free release that is never late. The best models for these two ideas are Wilson and Mobley - two of the straightest and most solid ball strikers anywhere. You almost never see them block balls right from being late.
Brad has tremendous talent and understanding of equipment, and he is going to surprise a few people in 2012 with his more efficient and accurate motion.

I am nobody, never done anything in this sport, I'm old, tired and grouchy most of the time, just ask my wife. I currently live in ............. Chicago I think, way west side of Chicago, almost to DeKalb, or at least will in a couple weeks. I know the long drive swing and feel I teach it well, but feel my expertise is in fitting.
Be glad to talk with anyone, well almost anyone about the swing and help out

If you are in or near Florida get hold of Stew Korkland aka Magoo. He knows the swing really well and has been a top flight ld'er for years with probably one of the best approaches to teaching I've encountered.

Sure why not I throw my hat into the ring!
Let's see teaching background
Grand Cypress Academy of Golf (Fred Griffin)
Swings the thing Golf Schools(Rick McCord)
ESPN Golf Schools (Hank Haney)
Current employment
Precision Golf Schools- North Carolina
Golf Digest Schools- Florida
Advantage Golf Schools- Florida
Long drive background. I have won a couple of events and am great example that swing speed does not always win:-)
I have taught many long drivers over the years and look forward to teaching many more. I found long drivers are some of the most talented based golfers out there and are some of the easist to work with.
I will be running some long drive specific schools next summer and hopefully partnering with a club and shaft company. These schools will cost effective and either one or two day schools. More info to come if there is interest.

I have been a part of 2 LDA Power Academy's and have been giving long drive advice at shows for over 15 years. I feel that I know the power swing very well, but when I need swing help I go to one person, Bobby Wilson.

Now that is one huge 'ringing' endorsement!!! And Mr. Pavlet (GRINGO) is in Arizona if anyone lives near that particular area of the country.

Teaching golf requires a very keen eye with knowledge, insight, the ability to communicate without confusion, knowing your students physical limitations and skill level, along with his or her goals in golf. Minimal verbal, maximum results. You must be able to see the core of the problem, diagnose it and have a game plan with the easiest most fundamental approach to getting your student to reach their goals and yours. Name that tune in one swing if your any good. Most teachers know multiple ways to get a student to make a certain adjustment and will try them all but the best instructors can give you a specific thought or position that can correct several fundamental errors in one tweek and then work around that. I havent taught at a facility for a long time but was in the business for many years and taught a lot. I have spent time around some of the worlds best instructors and players. Combining the knowledge I gained thru them, studying tour players inside the ropes at the range, countless times studying a select few at worlds, together with 10 years of caddying for bad players and some tour events, has given me a priceless insight. Long drive, its individualistic but specific. There are several positions that all good long drivers get into and yes I could hit it for a one legged 9 fingered old man. I wish I had pics of my positions, they would go a long way to help you guys. I regret never being healthy to compete but it was a decent run. I retire but willing to help.

Hey Stu.....no need to retire, get health insurance and get your decades long knee fixed!!!!!! You can still bring it as evidenced by your 402 in St. Louis this year! Longer than any open competitors! Talk to Droege in STL or someone who knows a good orthopedic surgeon at a sports facilty. I think you still have the talent to win a world title. Seriously.

I really wish it was that simple. Besides having no cartilige in my right knee since i started this long drive thing in 04 ive lost a tendon in my middle finger of the right hand from a dog bite in 07. Put an empty nickel coin wrapper to just above the middle joint of your middle finger and thats what ive got, everything feels oblong, along with a torn innercoastal in 05 that will never heal. Of course on the right side. Im good for a few rounds and that doesnt cash checks, so i wont waste my money and time.

Sorry to hear that. I had double artery bypass in both thighs exactly a year ago and still tried to compete in SS this year, both surgeries were a total failure, and next month I head to Mayo Clinic to have them yank out both gortex arteries, and yank out a couple of veins to use as arteries for this surgery. Also, as you know the worlds SS is only 4 rounds in the winners bracket till u get to the final 4, not nearly as many as the S. Also John McBride would want to kick your but if u decide to retire with some left in the tank. Good Luck. Dan Robinson

To Steve Pratt. I have watched Bobby Wilson hit probably 12-15 sets at the worlds, and his misses, which are rare, always seem to be to the right. I think he delays his release as long as he can to get that extra snap at impact. I dont remember him really ever hitting a hook or pull.

Guys I can attest to Stu and his teaching abilities. He's a lot like Pennick as he watches you without talking too much then focalizes on fundamentals first. He really helped me a lot and put 7+ mph on my swing and I'm hitting it with a soft draw and more solid. My swing was jacked up before Stu and now i feel almost confident over the ball unlike before.
