If you paid an entry fee to a local qualifier in advance for 4x tries, got injured a week prior to the event , did everything humanly possible to rehab, made the event host/site director aware, and then had to withdraw - from a local qualifier - more than 24 hours in advance - would you not expect to get your entry fee back ??
Would you expect to have to email 6 times and be forced to open a paypal claim against the site director? (as the emails went unanswered)
Just curious if I am crazy - wondering others opinions on this situation
Keep in mind - this was for a local qualifier - not a money event, not a regional qualifier, not a tour event. I was compelled to pre-pay the tries, due to an overwhelming amount of hitters at this same local qualifier last year. Had I not prepaid last year, I would have traveled , and not gotten to hit.
I've ran locals since 2002 + several regional championships, qualified for/competed in worlds a number of times, etc etc, so maybe I am getting grumpy in my old age to expect to get my local qualifying entry fees back when I canceled a flight and notified the site director well in advance and offered to provide physio receipts...
I'm trying to prove a point here and insure that those competitors, namely new competitors, do not make the same mistake in the future who perhaps cannot afford to lose $200.

I would expect it back. The fact that you gave them notice more than 24hrs in advance & it was b/c of an injury. Just my opinion though.

Under those circumstances I think a refund would be in order.

Yeah thats a toughy CARSON --sounds like yer getting the shaft--not a Harrison or HOF or Aldila either!!!
You made the site director clear that you couldent get their due to an injury and had prepaid yer tries --with all intentions of being there! The site director (as you well know) is pocketing the cash now---seeing as he owes the LDA nothing for you and your no show attempts-----this is just wrong!
Sorry to hear of this happening--when you had full intent on being their till your back went out -----as well sorry that your Regionals didnt work out for ya getting YOUR SPOT for RWLDCs again this year---but glad ya didn't get wiped off the LD map either as IRENE passed by!
Take care Carson---cya around a teedeck again soon im sure

@ Todd, yes the hurricane missed us thankfully. I find it amazing the guy is ignoring paypal requests for refund. Paypal automatically debits his account and credits mine after 10 days without a reply
If there is any contest or BS reason given to paypal as to why my entry fees arent/wont be refunded - I will copy/paste it on here
Any guesses what regional this was ?? hint , its one in Canada a lot of guys chose to avoid due to the final 4 shootout being held in complete darkness last year
Glad to hear from some other guys who have been in the sport forever, that I havent lost my mind thinking its completely insane to avoid refunding a guy $200 under these circumstances. I politely asked for the refund upon withdrawl from the event(prior to the event) 11 days ago.

Could it possibly be the same event where they claimed a $50,000 purse yet won't provide a breakdown on what the purse actually was, other than "cash on the tee" and free stuff for the fans?

lol BART
could be---mais oui i dont know---im guessing yer correct though --lol
It was difficult to get anything concrete out of that site director and id asked a # of well worded easily translated questions his way too--without any logical replies or answers at all in many situations--- I didn't attend it either as there wasn't anything clear about this event and spots being talked about either-----SAD situation when its a long time LDr like yourself CARSON --again who has done nothing but try and gain a bigger better following for LD in CANADA for years now as well.
The situation you are now involved with is a negitive and will only hurt this REGION and future respect of LDrs all over to attend and support his events---Not trying to bash him either--he speaks and writes way better still than I could ever try in two language's ----But he needs to get HIS INFO TRANSLATED CLEAR AND CONSISE for all to see , read and understand---if he expects the LD competitors to support his events. Hope he re thinks his NO REPLIES and gets it cleared up for u soon Carson and all the LD world now watching and waiting to see!!!

Carson just relax you will be refund the full amount, Pierre went a fishing trip just after the final. All the prize were for the french connection for the USA-CANADA it was a distric final for LDA witch 1 american and 1 canadian show. I personnaly help Pierre all summer long for different things for free but I have made sure that not one LONDRIVERS got shaft (the gold for the french connection is to give a very Good opportunity the all new talent to hit for a minimal cost event with purse for all regional) and get a chance to hit all summer long (just to allowed (personal) sponsor to be seen at least 10 times). I don't thing LONGDRIVE will died in Quebec

Hi Claude ! I hope you are well
I've told Pierre I will give a glowingly positive post on here once my money is refunded - and I will
Id also like to note I asked for a refund on August 19th/ prior to the event/his vacation
If I have over reacted, and he was on a trip that ended a few hours after my first incepta post, then I sure do have some egg on my face .
At this point, I dont have a paypal refund
When it happens, I will express apologies to him publicly for jumping the gun

Dear Carson and LDers from outside Quebec,
If I am taking time to write this, it’s because I respect your opinions and also want to make sure that true facts are known and understood. In the name of La French Connection du Long Drive and all LDers, I don’t think it’s fair and non respectful the way the situation was so impulsively splashed.
I came back from my holidays Tuesday afternoon and emailed Carson 2 hours after inviting him to call me the next day. No call…I re-invited him yesterday to call me…no call as of now Thursday.
There was 2 separate competitions:
One for Quebecers only which included 50 000 $ in purses and prizes for 8 independant events this summer as well as for a the LDA district final which included 2 spots for Open, 1 for Senior, 1 for Super Senior, 1 for Grand Champion and 1 for Ladies. Juniors were also invited for the first year. What was promised was totally cleared from day one.
The other one was for anyone from outside Quebec to compete against the best of Quebec for which there was also 2 spots for Open, 1 for Senior, 1 for Super Senior and 1 for Grand Champion. Those infos were very clear on Incepta as well as LDA.
If some of you did not understand it correctly, sorry, we’ll do better next year but my phone number and my email were made available for you guys to ask questions. Some did and came up from far. Their appreciation emails confirmed they were happy the way things happen. Actually, 2 “from outside of Quebec” won a spot!
As a new promoter of the Long Drive (2 years), I just don’t organize a week-end event for the regulars. I developed new concepts, stimulate different age groups to participate and also prepare grounds for the new young comers as well as opportunities for the Woodstock’s lovers to continue enjoying their trip. Perhaps some of you guys should also consider doing it so Long Drive might last longer. But that takes time, involment and passion.
Now, let’s get to the bottom of things.
When Carson (to whom I offered 2 free nights at the hotel this year and who also accepted an invitation for diner at my place last year but never showed up…without calling !) sent me his first “official email” on Friday 19th at 12.00, guess where I was ? On the field taking care of the participants from 10.00 to 20.00 and he knew where I was. So I saw his cancellation by email on Saturday late morning just before the Quebec finals. I had no time to take care of that. If Carson would have taken the phone and left me a message, we would have settle all that. He would have also heard my message (in French and English) that I was leaving for holidays till the 31st.
On the 23rd and 24th, he claimed his refunds and, being scared of I don’t know what, he filed a claim at Paypal on the 29th and asked for a ruling at LDA the next day ! Remember, I am on holidays during that time. I guess Carson badly needed that cash or was living some kind of a frustration.
By the way, last year, a guy broke his club on his first ball and another one prior to his trial. I offered them a free-bee for this year and they came and where very happy.
Enough time for this matter. Although the refund policies cannot be more clear than what you can read on our web site, Carson, I will be happy to give you credit for your next year’s participation. I even authorized you to transfer or sale such credit to anyone of your choice.
You would have gain more by calling unless you had other motives.
Pierre

Pierre, I guess you want to air things out on a public form. OK
You talk about things we should do and time and passion for the sport. Lets see
I have ran local qualifiers since 2002. Avg 4 locals per year , so I'm guessing I've ran 36-40 locals. Have ran 3 regionals in the past year in fact. I figured I've competed in around 100 long drive events. Passion ?
I dont remember which night you asked me to dinner. I dont see how that is relevant to you refunding me for a local qualifying entry?
You offered me a free hotel. You posted on a public form, incepta, free hotels for anyone outside of quebec to get hitters.
So by your offer of a free hotel, I shouldnt expect a refund ??
I emailed you back this morning, I was busy yesterday and didnt have time to call you. Is your phone blocked from outgoing calls ??
Trust me Pierre, I dont need the $200 and am not stressed about money. Suggesting otherwise is pretty insulting. Not refunding it indicates to me you dont have $200 to refund.
Great timing on your "fishing trip", 2 hours after I post on incepta you return ? ironic
Going by your website that nobody understands (not even some french guys I know) , I guess I should have gotten hurt sooner and not gone to great lengths to recover before your event, and withdrew 10 days prior to the event (a LOCAL QUALIFIER that is supposed to be held in the essence of anyone showing up at any time)
What you maybe dont understand , is a lot of longdrivers have hair triggers for event organizers that promise things and dont deliver, and take entry fees and run away.
I wont be attending your event next year. I doubt I'd be able to pay someone to take the tries, let alone sell them
I'll let everyone reading this thread make a judgment call on weather or not to pre-pay you for entry fees in 2012, or to attend your event , which in 2010 might have been the worst ran event in history.
Have fun with my $200, should buy a nice dinner - but dont worry I wont give up on my paypal claim
If you had $200 to refund me, you'd do it rather than make yourself look bad on a public forum by keeping it.
