give the women a break. Richard Raskin was a mediocre amateur tennis player, but on becoming Renee Richards she was successful on the WTA tour in her late thirties, ten plus years past womens prime tennis years, advantage? Yes, big time. I think that has hurt the womens division immensly. I cant put myself in Lana's posistion, but it seems selfish to me. Just an opinion.

They were given a break! And the Lana thing? She won at...what? 270 or something? Please...the others GAGGED it! 270 should have never won that title. And it may have been 250...I can't remember.
But, that's history...this is a whole new ball game!

And Lana beat Phylis Meti of NZ in the finals, who was/is considered to be by many the longest women ever, with cs of 120 and bs of 178, probably not much slower than geekman.

Are sure it was P. Meti? I thought it was Shiela (?) the fireman out of S. Ca. And former Champion. Inanycase, they both went (P.M. and Shiela) 0 for 6 OB! And Sally D. I believe did the same thing. In otherwords...they handed the big prize to Lana.
And, DLR, I am at low 90's S.S. If I am feeling strong...maybe 98! Maybe!

It happened! What is the difference. They want revenge.,..,.this is the year! I personally believe that most of the Women can beat Lana. It was a miracle that 270 held up!!! The weather was perfect...I was there I remember...No wind no nothing...! The Gals just couldn't hit the grid! That simple!
The deal is...if they don't get 8.....The ladies division is Gonzo! If i were Dick's sporting goods and/or Adams i would be very disappointed as they want to sell Ladies Golf Clubs as well! This can only help move product! And don't forget the news/press coverage of beating Lana as well....I am sure that will get good print!
But, it's up to them DLR.

That evening was the coldest I´ve experienced in Mesquite of all my 3 years there. Phillis hit one 300y that night. Longer than the Grand champs and Super seniors and I think Mike Gorton was 2nd longest that night with 295y something. Phillis beat herself that night cause she was by far the best that night, man or woman!

Geekoman. I agree with u on all ur points about the womens division. I was only stating why I think some of the women arent signing up, thats all. I do think there are some good women Lders out there who can win, and ur correct, if they want to grow their sport they need to participate, regardless. Wasnt trying to offend anyone with my posts.

And you didn't DLR.....If you can't give an opinion...just think how boring this site would be. What is worse than a bunch of YES men on any site. Your argument was well taken.

Thanks, Geekoman. I do hope to see a womens division. This is the biggest LD event in the world, with one world champion, so I hope we the have the Lisa "launch it" Joyce's, and Lizzy Uthoffs, etc. signup. I agree if they dont get enough this year they are probably done.

Anyone wants to talk about it...my phone 450.229.6588

I guess one way to look at it as Team Captain Mark R. brought up is even though $800.00 sounds like a lot. Going to multiple locals and districts seems a lot more expensive with travel, hotel entry monies, etc. I am sure if that option was given to Open Div. and Seniors...they would gadly give up the $800.00.

800 sounds like alot, but as Geekoman/MR state... 40 for 1 local hit, 150 for 1 regional, hotels, range balls, travel, etc. If u hit once in the local, and run the table in the regional, u might spend less than 800 if u are thrifty. If their are 4-5 women in Quebec who can hit it 270 plus, Long Drive Quebec should explain what a bargain they are getting, and get them to sign up. One of them may come out of nowhere and become a world long drive champion, big stuff!

"One of them may come out of nowhere and become a world long drive champion, big stuff!" said DLR.
If they feel they are throwing their money away because they don't have a chance of winning...look at it this way:
The ONLY
cinch lock bet
I was ever given was to take George Foreman (at 8 to 1 favorite) over Mohammand Ali...and we all know what happened there....Ali kicked his a s s in the Rope a Dope fight! Yeah.....dead lock cinch...LOL!

Hey Steve,...what's up with this stuff.?
1) And the Lana thing? She won at...what? 270 or something? Please...the others GAGGED it! 270 should have never won that title. And it may have been 250.
This is kind of brutal and after all the talks we have had about long drive..now I'm a thing.? the others gagged it so I have no ability so if that's the case then why is everyone so against me...I have no talent, the others gag it,,,etc..let me help you with the facts..I know what they are I lived them..
response:In 2007 I lost to Shelia Kelliher in the semi-finals 313-to-311yds no wind prefect night...Shelia went on to beat Phillis Meti in the finals..my game plan back fired on me and first year I chocked....plan and simple
2) personally believe that most of the Women can beat Lana. It was a miracle that 270 held up!!! The weather was perfect...I was there I remember...No wind no nothing...! The Gals just couldn't hit the grid! That simple!
response:In 2008 on a cold and very windy night (a 30-40 mph head wind) In the semi-final Phillis beat Sally Dee 300 to 266yds and I won my match 266 to 235yds...in the finals the wind was blowing mac-9 Phillis hit it 250yds into that wind and I won worlds with a drive of 254yds and that 's the story. yes 254 yds isn't much but into that wind...give me a break..In the Monday qualifying rounds that year Phillis hit it 349 yds twice to my 324 and 335 yds so I guess once again a genetic female can hit it past me.. you said most of the women can beat me.? and who might that just be...lets see I won the 2008 Desert Duel so no one there..won 2008 world championship and was #1 qualifier for the finals..so no one there, in 2007 I got beat by Shelia by 2 yds so I guess your correct there is "A" woman that has beaten me.....outside of that.,..no one I've met or competed against....that's a fact, not speculation.
3) And don't forget the news/press coverage of beating Lana as well....I am sure that will get good print!
answer: good print I thought I had this huge advantage because of my past...so what does it say about a genetic woman that can beat me, that should never happen right....and what happens if I win again and your stuck with me...?
I get it Steve You support women's long drive and not me, but I didn't think you would go there..I thought you were a man of Honor..
Lana
PS. I should thank you and everybody else for all the motivating comments of negativity. guess it's time to show the world what I can really do, you have no Idea.......LMAO
