Any chance there might be another event this year at DANAYR? I just popped a good 330 yarder uphill today on #9 at Woodstock Meadows which reminded me that I've been wanting to try out one of these long drive events! Of course I missed it by a week.
Fingers crossed that there will be one more!

get ahold of RICK BENOIT and the ILDC and CLDC Long Drive group and get the info you require directly from the HOST and one who is running the events.
YES there are going to be more and others to get out and try and test yourself against the rest of the guys at soon. Get Rick to give you sites and locations and dates--as well THE NATIONALs will be held and hosted at STARKs Range ( loctaed in PORT ROWAN area ---down southern Ontario) over the weekend of Sept 9th & 10th--not sure if it will run into SUNDAY yet or not actually!
Hope thats some help for you

Thanks Toddo, going to try and make it out this weekend.
How do these events work, do you have to be there for 9am to sign in, or can you still hit if you come a little later?

Best of luck and Say hello to the feelas at the site for me too please! You are ok to show up anytime through the am and sign in and get ready to hit . There is no Morning sign in time for registration and event goes until they have qualified a few spots then they may move into and additional qualifier as well for afternoon sessions. Dont swing yourself silly at the range--get loose, get set up , get ready and go find the grid----then we'll see ya atthe nationals in Sept again...
take care and if you have any more specific questions---get ahold of RICK BENOIT and let him give ya offical replys

Well that was kind of fun! Gave it a go and ended up in a back and forth battle for the lead of the morning session, losing by a foot! Learned a lot from the guys there too. I might have to start looking for an actual long-drive driver to start messing around with!

here's hoping all qualifiers show up and hit at stark's sept. 10, 11th, to crown canadian champions and win free trips to jamacia . many people on the other general forum are talking about why our sport isn't growing and why prize money isn't getting bigger ? the problem is one tv shown a year just doesn't cut it - at least ildc is producing quality tv shows that will be aired on multiple networks around the world. what is puzzling is that out of 300million people in the usa, there is no strong interest from the ld community to take a chance at representing the usa with their skills at a new fledging event. at the start of 2011, a former ld champion contacted rick benoit, and, was very positive about getting at least 2 usa teams to enter (total of 10 people), but by mid august he failed to complete this task. as it stands as of sept. 7th there is one lone long driver from usa who has committed to compete in this event for 2011.if anyone else from the usa has interest in competing, you can still secure a place in the event for 2011. you can contact rick benoit at 1-647-278-5473., for the details. it is still possible to enter a strong usa team(s) for the 2011 event. Hope to see you there.Sweden, England, Australia - all of you are welcome too.

Todd You say in your post that flights and accomodations are paid for yet on the web site it says hotel fees are $595. What is the purse breakdown? How much did the winners get last year? Is this the same deal as when Roger J ran things? Where were the qualifiers for westertn canada? Kevin Blenkhorn

Kevin Im not running the ILDCs or the events--Thats Rick Benoit and his email is attached to some earlier posts about these events and this weekend's Finals ect...
They are nothing like the old Iceman events or the way that he ran and held them either---Im pretty sure he wanted to get some Western involvment to hold events earlier this year and didnt get any support for hots or site & directors out yer way---Although I do know Lisa V is comming in for the weekend to compete and go after another Ladies Crown.
The winners in Jamaica were paid the night of the Finals at the event closing and ceremonys for them & paid cash in hand right there---The young South african winner was pretty happy to head off to LA after for a planned holiday--Just didnt think he'd have that kinda $ in his jeans i dont think! Chris Mason placed 2nd last year down there some of the teams left with both Team and Personal payday's as well.
The winning TEAM members got a Flight and Hotel paid--just paid the Event entry fee--$450 < & i think its same set up this year again if im not mistaken?
I know Rick mentioned after the TEAM USA pulled out just recently--there may be some USA team still come if there is enough interest? Or any International Intrest--he may do a International Team too----Get ahold of RICK though-----Im just going off discussions ive had with Rick in last few weeks.
Take care Kevin
Toddo
Kevin just went back and pulled this off Ricks---ILDC site
"What's Up For Grabs: The top 3 open hitters, 1 female and 1 senior will represent the #1 Canadian Team in Montego Bay, Jamaica and have their flight and accommodations paid for by the ILDC
Note: Each hitter will be responsible for their own entry fee ($450.00)"
& staying right at the Hilton at Cinnamon Hill---No running around the gunfire--like Roger had you guys doing that year in K Town!!

Todd , not your job to defend the ILDC but you do it anyway. if anyone knows Todd they know his love for the sport. all we hear is people running down this event. I can understand the scepticism with the former association with Roger, but he is gone and its time to let Good people try to advance the sport. ALL of the people involved in this organization are in it for the love of the sport of longdrive - not the money. it seems like so many have been burned in the past that no one trusts anyone anymore to run a upfront and honest event. this is the second year for the NEW ILDC and feedback from everyone that was involved with the first one was all positive. I wasn't there, but i do know the guys organizing it and with Roger Jay gone i wish everyone would give them a chance.
