Indeed, it will undoubtedly be a big boost for European LD!
Let's at the same time, for our own benefit, not lose the perspective. Behind Joe in the top positions there was a big, big field of North American talent (both young and less young). Lots of respect to them. The American critical mass in this event remains a formidable force to go up against. All the more kudos to Joe for his achievement!
BUT it's at least PARTLY a numbers game: throw in a small number of gifted Europeans against a much larger field of let's say equally gifted Americans in an elimination-format competition. Who's statistically most likely to occupy most of the top spots? You do the math.

Well for a long time the Math was saying there would be no European spots and great kudos to Johan and his crew for getting 4 spots and putting his Swedish event together.

A lot of European guys including Joe backed their talent and made the trip across the pond for the last chance qualifiers. I think Adam Stacey's experience sums up the luck you need to get one of those spots, he hits 423yds and as he leaves the tee the wind literally went crazy, there were 5 guys hanging onto the big RE/MAX balloon at the side of the stands to stop it blowing away, two of the next 3 hitters went over 450 yards and The Stinger, who I rate as one of the top 10 longdrivers on the planet, was gone Shocked

As I Understand Europeans are allowed to enter in competitions where spots are to be won in the USA.
Let's do our best to find a sponsor who will make it possible for us to compete in these competitions.
Send our best players one by one to these competitions. Maybe we will have a bigger group of Europeans in the finals next year ? !! .
