Matt Gunning qualified for the RE/MAX World's today!  No less than 7 LDers called or e-mailed me about Matt a couple of months ago.  We took your advice and put him on Staff.  I never approach LDers, maybe 3 or 4 times in 12 years, I did this time and let me say to the ones that touted me on Matt...Thank You!

Just got off the telephone with Matt and he is extremely excited to say the least!

Matt is Canadian Military....so we are twice as proud to have Matt with us!

Don't forget the Geek Team Party Matt......Oct. 31st.

See you in Mesquite!

Great job Gunner.  You are getting better and better each time you hit.  I was hoping too make it out to montana myself but that darn work thing got in the way, oh well.  Nice job either way I knew you could do it and I'm glad that you decided to keep trying.  You seemed a little disenchanted after sylvan lake but as I said you just keep getting better and the sky is the limit.  You've got some great gear now and "The Head Geek" is one of the best guys in the business for helping out LDers so know you can just focus on winning the worlds.  Of course it would be nice if you stopped by Sylvan again late august to whoop up on us Albertans Grin

Hope to see you in Mesquite.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I've certainly enjoyed my first year doing this. I didn't know the the first thing about long drive when I showed up to Red Deer this March, but the class group of guys I met there who took the time to offer advice and their knowledge to a newbie is greatly appreciated. I can say that every event I've been to I've been impressed by the comradery and sportsmanship of all the hitters and organizers. It makes it an easy choice to try to compete whenever possible when you know your going to have a good time, win or lose and hang out with some good people. Thanks also to Steve who took a chance on someone who really hasn't done a thing yet in the sport.
And a special thanks to Rob Engley, who will do absolutly anything he can to help out long drivers. Nice work Rob, 2 guys qualified already from your 'team Toba' and hop[efully more to come.

I'm definatly hoping to come back to Sylvan this month, should know by the end of the week if it's going to work.

Matt,

Congrats on making it to worlds. I can't say where or when but I know we played ball against each other. I played college in the States and 4 years pro 3 with Vipers in Calgary my hometown. Battled some shoulder injuries and took 09 off from ball and decided to try my hand at long drive, did ok but sometimes felt like I was hitting curveballs on tee box lol... was going to make return and play some ball this summer but broke bone in foot and had to have surgery guess it's a sign no more ball!!! Anyways best of luck in Mesquite and I look forward to seeing you on the teebox next year.

Finally got registered on here. Just want to say congrats to Laroque and Gunner!!! 2 Toba boys heading to worlds!!!! Both rookies but both great hitters!!! I've had an opportunity to get to know Matt in the past couple of months and I just want to say that he is not only a monster LDer but a first class friend. Way to go Matt!! Call me anytime if you need a practice buddy. I also got to know Lloyd at the Wpg event as well as at Sylvan, also a very nice guy who may surprise a few at worlds if he keeps hitting those darts deep into the grid at will just like he did at Sylvan.

Also thanks to Matt who did everything he could to get me back to Billings after I left because of some misinformation. I will NEVER let that happen again even if it means being really annoying to the organizers asking a hundred times if I'm eliminated.

Thanks to Rob Engly!!! He single handedly got me back into the sport after 2 years of LD retirement thinking I was done!!! His enthusiasm and faith in me has been unequalled in the 10 years I've been in the sport. My greatfulness is truly heartfelt. See you when I'm back in the country.

It was nice to see Robinson and Blenkhorn again, both guys still bomb it, and Hutch, great to meet you, you are a truly first class individual and a friend.

thanks for the words of encouragement that you said to me in Sylvan. i didnt think i had a chance in sylvan but you guys believed i could do it and just want to thank the manitoba crew that was in sylvan for their support...was great to hear from people who have been in this area a long time to see that i made a couple people worry , but i was more worried than anyone else because of the long distances that these guys were hammering out there that weekend.i got lucky that a headwind was in my favour...if the wind was anyway else i would probably never know what it is like to go to the worlds, but thank god it turned out the way it did....thanks alot Team Toba..you guys are a great bunch...hope i do u guys proud in mequite..slim as it maybe..i will try my best... i will try my best Kyle...hope you can make it down there too....

Huge congrats out to you guys.  Sorry Rob, Kyle and Matt I havn't been in touch lately I dissapeared off the radar and went and got married.  Against all advice I just couldn't wait any longer and got a quick xxx hof adams LD 5.5 50'.  I've only been to the range once with it but hit it decent.  Now i need the pro's to show me how to hit it real far, anytime you guys are playing or practicin at range I'd love to join ya.   Congrats again on Mesquite.

Yup Steve, kicking myself 100 times a day since. In my defence I was the 3rd last hitter in the bracket of 8 (2 grps of 4), I asked the scorers what I needed to hit to get through, they said 373. What they didn't tell me was that # was for the 1st wild card and not the 2nd. When I asked them I assumed they were telling me the 2nd wild card #. After mustering only 365 I stuck around for 40 minutes to say bye to the guys and I still wasn't told that I was through. Guess I wont assume anything ever again, a hard lesson that took 10 years to learn. Love the feel of the DotCom, I will definitely continue to use that head. Fail Safe was real nice too.
