Most of you know about this event from the LDA website, but I wanted to make a quick post here as a reminder to mark your calenders if you are traveling from other parts of Canada or the USA

Atlantic Canadian Long Drive Championship
Local Qualifying - Sept 10-11th (open and senior)
Regional Championship - Sept 12th (open and senior)

Location
Marshland Golf Driving Range, Truro Nova Scotia Canada (about 30 minutes from Halifax International Airport, about 80 minutes from Moncton New Brunswick Canada)

Facility
Grid is flat, funnells a bit towards the middle, 460 to the back. Prevailing wind is 15-20kmph straight down grid. Range owner is cutting the grid starting a month out to hopefully produce some seriously fun numbers. Large warm up area. Range is about 200 yards from shopping mall/city of Truro

Entry $40 Canadian Dollars for 6 balls in the locals. Top 4 guys from each local regardless of the number of hitters will advance into the Sunday Championship

Doing our best to get nice trophies and prizes for the qualifiers but still a work in progress along with some other interesting things

Any questions, email me way@istar.ca  or call me 902-489-5148. We are taking pre-registrations/entries for the locals and they may fill up fast like in Quebec !

The city of Halifax is about a 45 min highway trip to Truro. Lots more to see and do in Halifax but there are a few hotels within a minute or so of the facility

Comfort inn Truro  (very close to the range and highway)
(902) 893-0330

Holiday Inn Truro ( a bit further from the range)
902-8951651

If you qualify Friday, you may consider staying the night in Halifax that night and coming back to Truro for Saturday night . Or if you dont mind a bit of a drive stay in Halifax

Suggested hotels in the area here:

#1. Lord Nelson - nicest and most expensive right in downtown Halifax, http://www.lordnelsonhotel.com/

#2. Marriott Harbourfront Halifax - very nice, connected to the Halifax Casino right on the water - http://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/yhzmc-halifax-marriott-harbourfront/

#3. Hampton Inn Dartmouth Crossing - this is on the opposite site of the Halifax Harbour and right on the highway near a large shopping / business area. Brand new, very nice, cheaper than the others and quicker commute to truro, http://hamptoninn.hilton.com/en/hp/hotels/index.jhtml?ctyhocn=YHZDTHX

#4. Future Inn Dartmouth - right on highway, cheaper rates still , phone (902) 465-6555

#5. Inn on the Lake - near the Halifax airport, reall nice spot , not shy http://www.innonthelake.com/

#6. Berry's Motel Truro, http://berrysmotel.com/  I think they are $60 CAD per night, very close to the range, probably have hourly rates as well. You'll be gauranteed a bed and a lockable door

Just a heads up for those thinking of coming
We have 7 open and 2 senior division tries allready signed up for the Friday 1230-330pm qualifier - still almost a month to go
All 9 were called and emailed in yesterday
Huge amount of interest from local guys in the area, so those of you who are traveling here may want to pre book your local tries to insure you arent waiting a long time to hit, or worse missing a try at a local that gets filled up
Looks like this could be at least as busy as the other Canadian events
